Updates on CSF II Call for Proposals (CfP)

Preparations to launch a large grants CfP from Phase II of CSF II are at advanced stage. The tripartite Programme Steering Committee (PSC), comprising representatives from the Government of Ethiopia, Non-State Actors (NSAs) and EU Delegation to Ethiopia, has been constituted and has already conducted two meetings to discuss and guide the programme in setting priorities for the CfP.

The CfP will be designed in such a way that overlaps in focus with other related programmes are minimised, and initiatives with strategic relevance for Ethiopian NSAs in terms of capacity strengthening, enhancing participation in development and governance at large are emphasised. In this regard, lessons from the implementation of CSF II so far, the recommendations from the NSA Mapping Update Study (2014) and frameworks for NSA collaboration as outlined in the National Indicative Programme for EU-Ethiopia Cooperation, 2014-2020 are all taken into account and discussed by the PSC. Because of the privilege accorded by the Government of Ethiopia, broad categories of NSAs, including Ethiopian Charities and Societies, can take part and benefit from the CfP.

The large grant contracts will have a two-year duration and could benefit 30 to 40 NSAs as implementers and co-implementers from the available close to 100 million Eth Birr budget.

The CfPs will be launched in July 2015, and publication notices will be posted on EUD and CSF II websites and in major local print media. The Technical Assistance Unit will organise information sessions to interested NSAs in regional towns and Addis Ababa on the rules and procedures of application and evaluation.

The CSF II with this forthcoming CfP intends to further deepen and broaden its support to Ethiopian NSAs.
