CAPACITY BUILDING SUPPORT

The capacity building support will cover a wide range of initiatives. Among others, special capacity building activities focusing on domestic resource mobilisation, tailored training for CSOs in emerging regions and strengthening capacity for dialogue and promotion of partnerships are foreseen.

The Civil Society Fund II programme focuses on strengthening the participation of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in development policy processes, strengthening coordination within CSOs and enhancing partnership with government, and providing technical and leadership development support related to participation in policy processes. Considerable support will be given to CSOs through training and coaching. Among others, special capacity building activities focusing on domestic resource mobilisation, tailored training for CSOs in emerging regions and strengthening capacity for dialogue and promotion of partnerships are foreseen.

RESEARCH

The Technical Assistance Unit (TAU) will implement research activities to improve the Civil Society Fund II programme support to the civil society sector, such as updating the EU’s Non-State Actors Mapping Study (2008) as well as additional researches.

The TAU plans to conduct a mapping study focusing on Ethiopian Charities and Societies. The study aims to understand the general situation of such organisations with respect to their operational mandates and thereby identify areas and develop strategies for addressing capacity constraints. Updates will be provided on the progress of this initiative.

The TAU will conduct additional researches on issues related to the sector and relevant to the Programme’s objectives.
