The Technical Assistance Unit (TAU) is established to assist the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia with the day-to-day administration of the Civil Society Fund II (CSF II). GOPA Consultants, Germany, in consortium with VNG International, was contracted to establish and manage the Technical Assistance Unit which operates from its self-contained office, close to the main Delegation of the European Union building in Addis Ababa.

The TAU acts as an interface with Non-State Actors, the Government of Ethiopia and the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia providing service, advice and innovative solutions based on accumulated civil society sector knowledge. It assists the Delegation of the European Union in the daily administration of the Fund, with the preparation of calls for proposals, monitoring the implementation of the Programme and its supported projects, and supports the Programme’s Steering Committee as well as policy inputs to the EU Delegation related to the civil society. The TAU also consults with NSAs, the Ethiopian Government, the EU and other relevant actors to develop an overall strategy of greater involvement of NSAs in governance and development activities. Further, TAU provides capacity building support to grantees in the form of individual mentoring and coaching and conducts for the wider civil society consultations, awareness raising activities, and workshops.

The Unit is currently composed of a Programme Manager, Deputy Programme Manager, two Grant Officers and one Finance Officer.

Please note that the TAU cannot take any decision on funding requests or on aspects related to the implementation of grant projects.
